French terry and sweatshirt fabrics

French terry has visible loops on the reverse; brushed fabric has a brushed surface. Assess samples for the season and garment rather than judging softness from the name. Higher g/m² means greater mass per square metre, not automatically better durability. Compare usable width and consumption for lightweight trousers versus a heavy oversized sweatshirt.

Confirm composition and finishing, then compare ribbing beside the main fabric. Similar colour names do not guarantee identical shades across different constructions.
